Wine flu

  Wine Flu,  the Next Pandemic

I went to a dinner party last night, where I and other guests enjoyed
copious amounts of alcohol. I awoke this morning with flu-like
symptoms: headache, nausea, chills, sore eyes. As a result, I have
unfortunately tested positive for what a cadre of experts are now
calling Wine Flu.

This debilitating condition is serious - and it appears this is NOT an
isolated case. Reports are flooding in from across the country of
others now being diagnosed with Wine Flu. To anyone exhibiting the
aforementioned symptoms, experts recommend a cup of tea and a bit of a
lie down. However, should your condition worsen, you should
immediately rent a DVD and call in sick.

Then take the only drug proven to combat this usual type of flu: a
McDonald's Quarter Pounder with cheese. If that doesn't work, further
application of the original liquid, in familiar quantities, has been
shown to do the trick.

Wine Flu does not NEED to be life threatening! If treated early, it
can be eradicated within a 24-48 hour period.

Stay well!

Online Shopping Made Easy!

Adams County Winery is proud to announce the launch of our updated website! Our Graphic Designer, Lorraine has worked her magic and proven yet again to be "wizardly" (as she is referred to in the office) with her creativity and design work!  The wallpaper design commemorates the Civil War era and ties in with our Bank Barn location, established during the same time period.  In addition to a new look, we're now offering a brand-new online shopping cart with wine AND wine-related merchandise for purchase. Our new site arrives just in time for the holiday gift giving season. Through the end of the year, you will receive FREE SHIPPING on Clothing and Wine Accessories (regular shipping rates apply to Wine Bottles). Check it out at http://www.adamscountywinery.com

We'd love to hear your thoughts on our new site!  Please send them to: wine@adamscountywinery.com.

The Holiday Season brings a time for Reflections.
Our limited relese holiday wine for '09, Reflections is a secret blend of apple wine infused with cranberry flavors and spices. This wine's label reflects the beauty of our farm in the wintertime, and the name represents our own reflections on the joy of friends, family, and good wine, now and throughout the year!
Be sure and visit us this Holiday Season for some Reflections of your own!

Rusty's Red is just off the bottling line and ready to go home with you! This is the newest addition to our red wines, named after our V.I.P., (Very Important Pet, that is) Rusty, the Winery  dog.   A sweet red wine, this is sure to be a crowd pleaser! Come by for a tasting or order it online!

Tears of Gettysburg, Rebel Red, and Yankee Blue are also back on the shelves in time for the holiday gift-giving season!
Vintner's Report

We are finally picking the last of our grapes!  It is unusual for us to wait this long, but we have been busy, making sure that we have your favorite wines available.  In the past two weeks, Evan and Jesse have bottled Tears of Gettysburg, Rebel Red, and our new holiday wine, Reflections.  Let me warn you now-  We made a limited quantity of the Reflections, and I can almost guarantee that it will be gone before the 25th.  So if you want some, get it now. Anyway, we are now picking our Cabernet Savignon. Although shriveled and ugly, the berries taste excellent!  But that is to be expected this late in the season.

We also purchased a new flippie video camera thingee (I think it may have a more technical name), and we have been videotaping some of the activities around here.  Here are links to three of the first ones that we did:

Winemaker Evan has been whining again.  Seems that I require him to make more wine that we have space to store, either in tank or in bottle.  I finally bought him two NEW tanks, but that doesn't satisfy him.  NOW he wants to be able to walk from one end of the operations area  to the other without feeling like he is working his way through a maze.  We will probably be looking at expanding storage in the very near future.  This will happen just as soon as I convince the boss (SWMBO) that it is a good idea.  The first person who correctly identifies what SWMBO means will win a bottle of Reflections, our new holiday wine. Send your response to vintner@adamscountywinery.com.  Good luck.

Do you have someone for whom it is difficult to get a present?  If not wine, then how about some of our really nifty stocking stuffers?  We have all sorts of nice items, you are sure to find something you like.

Check out the decorations at both the Gettysburg location and the farm location.  The staff there have been letting the creative juices flow, and have come up with joyous things to behold.
