How to Make Blueberry
Wine
It's harvest time for our
blueberries! We're picking them now to begin
the next batch of Yankee Blue wine. After the
blueberries are picked, we freeze them to get better,
more concentrated flavor, and in a week or two, thaw
them out. Then Evan and Jessie will start vinification,
the process whereby fermentation changes the juice into
wine. FYI: it takes 55 pounds of blueberries to
produce 5 gallons of juice! Yankee Blue will be
ready in the fall; stay tuned for the exact release
date.

Rockbridge Artillery Living History this Saturday
7/24 |
The
Rebels are coming and they want all our Rebel
Red!! This Saturday, July 24th, come
take in some history (and some wine) as the 1st
Rockbridge Artillery makes camp here at Adams County
Winery.
Along with firing demonstrations, they
will be conducting a living history and recreating camp
life of the War Between the States. These Redlegs
recreate a unit that fired the first shots in the
Shenandoah Valley and continued with Lee's Army until
the surrender at Appomattox.
So, when you've had
your fill of the battlefield, ditch the bottled water,
get yourself a glass of wine, and enjoy a little bit of
history (and music) at Adams County
Winery! |
 Free

Summer |

All concerts are free of charge, and

August from 1-5 pm. This Saturday, July
24, the encampment (above) will overlap with one of the
Winery's free summer concerts when the Alfred
James Band takes the stage from 1 p.m. to 5

compared to Sting, Jason Mraz, Jack Johnson and Dave
Matthews. Check the full band line-up at the

 Great
Pennsylvania Wine Toast on August
14th |
Who among us hasn't dreamed of
being part of a world record? Well, now's your chance!
On Saturday, August 14, Adams County Winery will be
taking part in The Great Pennsylvania Wine
Toast, and we'd like you to join us.
Under the watchful eye of the folks at the
Guinness Book of World Records, over 60 wineries across
the state will open their doors for this chance to enter
the record books for the largest wine tasting ever
conducted. The event's toastmaster, whose toast will be
broadcast simultaneously to all participating locations,
is racing legend Mario Andretti - a man who knows a
lot about wine, Pennsylvania, and setting world
records. Our event will start at
1:00 p.m. with a "golden oldies" concert by the Billy
Hedrick Band, and a pig roast going on throughout the
day. The world record toast will take place
precisely at 4:00 p.m. Join us and
be a part of wine history! For more

 Serendipity Summer
Cooler |
|
Here's a
great summer party idea for our Serendipity
strawberry wine...Strawberry Wine Ice!
All you have to do to is pour a bottle of strawberry
wine into a big saucepan along with ½ a cup or so of
sugar (sweeten to your taste). Heat the strawberry wine
mixture until the sugar has melted completely, and then
freeze this mixture in ice cube trays.
When it
comes time to serve, just take the strawberry wine ice
cubes out of the freezer and pop them into the blender.
Blend until smooth and pour into drink glasses and
serve. If you are having a party you can add a little
sprig of mint to each glass as a garnish. It's a great
way to show off your culinary skills without straining
yourself at all! This frozen drink is a
real crowd pleaser, but you can use just a couple ice
cubes to make it for yourself. Any time of year, this
recipe will add some fun and flavor to your
day. |
If you have a Facebook account, please
visit Adams County Winery's fan page and become a Fan.
You'll hear the latest happenings, know when new wines
are bottled, and be up on all things going on here at
the farm.
