Summer is Slipping Away

We've had six great concerts so far this summer and we're down to our last two, how did it go by so fast?

This Saturday, Aug. 22, back by popular demand, The Willys will perform a free concert on the lawn!   The Willys offer a musical cocktail that blends rock and roll with acoustic alternative and electric power pop.  While you're enjoying the music we'll be mixing up a perfect summer drink we call Crantastic Memories featuring the semi-sweet blush wine, Fireside Memories.  Come, relax, and enjoy!

August 29th, we welcome back the lovely Skyla Burrell and The Skyla Burrell Blues Band for a return engagement.  This is our final concert of the summer so you don't want to miss it! This is your last ditch effort to tell Winter to back off and keep the Summer fun going as long as possible!!
Moon Landing Celebration

We "stuck the landing" for the celebration and everyone had a great time! Guests received free t-shirts that read "I got mooned at the Adams County Winery" and moon pies in honor of the special day.  The celebration was so entertaining and unique it made the papers!

Gettysburg Trolley!

Avoiding heavy traffic in downtown Gettysburg during the summer isn't always easy...
Isn't it great trying to find a parking spot, only to find a yellow sticker on the windshield when you return?

Good news!  Gettysburg now has a trolley system that will take you almost anywhere you want to go in the 'Burg, including a stop only half a block from our downtown store.  For more information go to http://www.ridethetrolley.com/.

Announcing Yankee Blue™!

Just a few short weeks ago we were very excited to release our first ever 100% blueberry wine, Yankee Blue™.  This wine is a wonderful balance of 3 different types of fresh berries picked right from our farm.  Along with a smooth sweet flavor, the color is a beautiful light blue.  Yankee Blue™ is perfect to sip complementing a
desert or just talking amongst friends.

Here are some comments we have heard from our guests, but we urge you to try it for yourself!

"Yankee Blue™ is better than a blueberry pie!"

"It's like eating fresh blueberries."

"It's a perfect balance of the sweetness and tartness found in a blueberry."
Vintners Report

Apparently, some women were taken aback at the Seven Springs Wine Festival when we asked them if they have been lei'd lately.  The word "lei" sounds exactly like the word "lay", so, to my complete surprise, many women misconstrued this question until we showed them the plastic lei that we were about to hang around their neck.  We also gave them a sticker that said "I got lei'd at Adams County Winery."  What could possibly be misconstrued about that!?  We have a great deal of fun with this and 99.9% of the women loved it.  Come by our booth at any wine festival, ladies, and you can get "lei'd" by a man in a kilt, too.

Good news for you Sweet Catawba fans.  Winemaker Evan assures me that the fermentation on the latest batch is complete, and now we are ready for cold stabilization.  Those of you who have taken my world-famous Wine Appreciation Class know what I am talking about.  Anyway, within the next couple of weeks, we should have it on the shelf.

According to Penn Jillette (of Penn and Teller fame), what three occupations are lowest on the pecking order of entertainers?   Win a bottle of the Sweet Catawba if you are first to answer.

The grapes are now in veraison, and we will be picking them soon.  This will add a special dimension to our operations area tours because we allow you to view the process of the day (from a distance, of course) while we are actually doing it.  We don't know what days we are doing a particular function, so it is purely luck of the draw.  If you are nice to us, we may even let you help clean up!

We have TWO more concerts here at the farm.  They are still free of charge to you, and are entertaining.  This week we have the Willys, excellent players of classic rock.  Our last concert features the exceptionally talented Skyla Burrell, blues lady extraordinaire.  Bring your own picnic, or get one of ours.  Well behaved pets, children, and husbands are welcome to attend.  Our only restrictions are:  smoking ONLY in the smoking tent and no outside alcohol.

See you on Saturday!
Gavin's Festival Report

So summer is coming to an end and with that comes a close to our festival season.  Split Rock and Seven Springs are now both behind us and it was one heck of a good time.   We were visited by lots of old and new friends and we managed to firmly establish ourselves as one of the best wineries for a guaranteed good time.  The wine was flowing and plenty of people were getting lei'd! (You'll have to come to one to find out what that is all about).  With that being said - there are still a few festivals upcoming that should be a great time for all.

On August 29th, the Capitol Theatre Center in Chambersburg will host Pop a Cork for the Capitol.  This will be the first wine festival to be hosted in the Chambersburg area and with your help, we can make it a successful and hopefully reoccurring event!  Five wineries from throughout the state, arts and craft vendors, food vendors, cooking demonstrations, and live music will make this an event that you will not want to miss.  Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door and the entrance fee includes a souvenir wine glass.  If you wish to purchase an advance ticket you may contact Ann with Ludwig's Jewelers of Chambersburg at 717-264-7693.

Also at this time I want to inform you in case you don't know already that the sleepy little town of Gettysburg manages to put on a rockin' party every year called the Gettysburg Wine and Music Festival.  This party is coming up and will take place on September 12th and 13th at the Gateway Gettysburg Complex.  This festival is run by the Gettysburg Adams Chamber of Commerce and the "Chamber Maids" (it's an inside joke, you'll have to ask them!) have put a lot of really hard work into making this year's festival the best one yet.  Tickets can be purchased at the gate but while its fresh on your mind you should probably go ahead and pre-order your ticket right now!  You can do so by logging onto www.gettysburgwine.com or by calling the Gettysburg Adams Chamber of Commerce at 717-334-8151.

One final note on wine festivals: We only take a limited number of our wine varieties to a festival. However, if there is a particular wine that you would like for us to have available for you to purchase while at the festival, we can make that accommodation.   Please just shoot me an email (gavin@adamscountywinery.com) or give me a call (717-334-4631) and I will be sure to have it with me.  I promise it will be easy to find as I will be - the incredibly handsome young man in a kilt charming all the older ladies with my quick wit and adorable grin!!! (I was recently on a date and this woman told me that "modesty is obviously my best quality" - It was like magic! She knew me instantly!)  Haha!! Enjoy the rest of your summer and hopefully I will be seeing you soon at a nearby festival!
