Wine Fact of the
Day |
When talking in terms of
wine, do you know the difference between aroma and
bouquet? Did you even know there was a
difference??? Well, actually there is. Aroma
refers to the smells in the wine that come from the
grapes whereas bouquet refers to the smells that are a
result of the winemaking process.
If you are interested in learning more
random wine facts such as this one, a great place
to do so is a wine appreciation class! It just so
happens we offer such classes right here at the farm
winery. For more information check us out at
our website. Stay tuned for future newsletters with
more random wine facts to come!

Special
Visitor!!! |
It was a cold and snow covered New
Year's Eve day at Adams County Winery. The South
Mountains were shiny and bright with the morning's fresh
blanket of snow. The winery staff was just settling down
after a tour bus's morning visit. When what to our
wondering eyes should appear, but a man who seemed so
strikingly familiar we had to look and look again to
consider what we saw. Both his hair and his
beard were as white as the snow covered hills!
His laugh so familiar that we knew we'd seen him
somewhere before. After much discussion and
deliberation Rusty finally asked, "Santa?! Is
that you?"
We are proud to say that after
traveling the world in one magical night, everyone's
favorite jolly old elf chose Adams County Winery to
celebrate his holiday accomplishments. There may be one
or two of you out there questioning this story or even
doubting this man's entire existence. All we can say is
that we know what we believe and we also know what,
rather, who we saw this past New Year's Eve.

We are forever grateful to
Santa for choosing Adams County Winery as his preferred
destination to help ring in 2010. We are also forever
grateful for you our loyal customers who visit us
whenever you can and make Adams County Winery the
magical place it is. Be sure to visit
early and often, you just never know who you might
see...
May 2010
treat you and yours well and we hope to see you soon.
Happy New
Year!

New Year, New Faces, New
Wine... |
|
This New Year comes to us
with two new additions to Adams County Winery. We are
pleased to welcome a new Business Manager and launch a
new wine. The newest addition to our staff could not
wait to get her hands on our new wine (she was the first
person to purchase a bottle)! Lara Randall joins the
Winery team as our new business manager, and Scrapple
(which stands for 'Sweet Cranberry Apple') joins
our wine list.
Lara Randall, our new
Business Manager, brings a fresh outlook for organizing
administrative matters and improving operational
effectiveness. Lara brings to the team a diverse
background in marketing, customer service and
management, as well as four years running her own
specialty coffee business. She attended York College
before earning her degree in public relations from
Auburn University. She has just relocated to Adams
County after spending the past 14 years residing in
Georgia. Lara's two young children love all the snow
this new year has brought, however she has not yet
adjusted to the weather. Come visit her at the Farm and
be sure to try our new wine,
Scrapple!
People are
going hog wild over Scrapple and it is selling like hot
cakes (is anyone else getting hungry?). Scrapple is
reminiscent of our holiday wine Reflections. It
has a sweet spiced cranberry apple flavor that is sure
to please your palate. The name gets your attention but
the taste steals the show. Come taste Scrapple for
yourself- you'll be glad you did.

Are you Reading This? |
Well if you aren't you should! If you do, thanks,
we greatly appreciate it! Why are we asking this
question? Well here is something that was featured in
John's article from last month's newsletter:
"...We will
probably be looking at expanding storage in the very
near future.
This will happen just as soon as I convince the
boss (SWMBO) that it is a good idea. The first person
who correctly identifies what SWMBO means will win a
bottle of Reflections, our new holiday wine. Send your
response to vintner@adamscountywinery.com. Good
luck"
Did you know the answer? Well, our friend Julie
Kurtz did, and she was quick to respond with the correct
answer to John's quiz question, "She Who Must Be Obeyed"
was the answer to John's quiz question. We congratulated
Julie with a gift basket that included a bottle of Reflections,
our limited edition holiday wine (now completely sold
out), and some little gifts from our tasting room. It was our way
of saying thanks for reading our newsletter! And most
importantly, Julie did tell us she only knew the answer
because she paid attention in one of our Wine
Appreciation classes (hint, hint, wink, wink). This
month's question: According
to duet "Trout Fishing in America", what is the name of
their retired means of transportation? First
correct response wins a free bottle of Scrapple.
Congratulations again to Julie and just remember,
reading is not only good for you, it can also be good to
you! | |
